Chakra is the Sanskrit word for "wheel." Chakras are whirlpools of energy with specific colors associated with the body's organs and their well-being. The colors of the chakras have no impact on the colors of the aura. Since the human body is a complex organism, there are many chakras. There are seven major chakras located near
the major nerve plexus of the body. Besides these there are many others
referred to as minor chakras which can be found in our hands and feet,
at each breast, each knee and elbow, at the hips and shoulders, and even
at the ankle bones. The image below shows the locations of the seven major
chakras. Click on a chakra to find out more!
The root chakra is located at the base of the spine and it's associated with the kinesthetic (sense of the body position), proprioceptive (sense of the body movement), and tactile (touch) senses. It is related to our will to live and supplies the body with physical vitality. It provides stability, grounding, physical energy, will, security.
The second chakra is located just above the pubic bone on the front and the back of the body. It is related to our sensuality and is associated with reproduction. It provides creativity, healing, sexuality and reproduction, desire, emotion, intuition.
Also known as the Power Chakra. As the name states, this chakra is located in the solar plexus area on the front and back of the body. In other words it's on the spine at the level of the stomach. It supplies the organs in this area of the body - the stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen, and nervous system - with energy. It is associated with intuition. It is related to who we are in the Universe, how we connect to others, and how we take care of ourselves. It's related to intellect, ambition, personal power, and protective energy.
The heart chakra is located in the center of the chest, and it relates to love and will. Through it we sense love. To keep this chakra functioning well, we live with a balance of love and will. It brings energy to our heart, circulatory system, thymus, vagus nerve, and upper back.
Positioned on the spine at the level of the throat. Here we experience the sense of solitude. It represents expression, divine guidance and the ability to communicate with the world around us. It can be gentle and caring as well as over-critical depending on energy flow. The fifth chakra governs the thyroid, bronchial and vocal apparatus, lungs and alimentary canal.
This chakra, which is also called the Brow center, is centered just above the eyebrows on the forehead. It is the center for spiritual sight such as clairvoyance, visions, and transcendental thinking. The third eye governs the pituitary gland, left eye, lower brain, nose, mouth, and nervous system.
The crown chakra is located at the top of the head and is also referred as the Thousand Petalled Lotus. It is the mystical and spiritual link to God. This chakra is in relation to enlightenment and Universal Awareness.
